Nike Book 1
The Nike Book 1 is the first installment in Devin Booker’s signature line with Nike. Taking on elements of the Air Force 1, the Blazer and the Air Jordan 1, Booker’s first signature silhouette embarks on a “Future Classic” design ethos.
Meant to transcend the hardwood into lifestyle wear, the Book 1 maintains a court-ready construction fueled by a stacked, Cushlon 2.0 foam midsole and a top-loaded Zoom Air unit in the heel with added TPU walls for stability. On the upper, workwear-inspired canvas pairs with twill, leather and suede for a plush yet reinforced feel.
The Nike Book 1 first appeared via exclusive sample imagery and was later confirmed by Booker through a series of 90s-inspired grainy videos shot on a Sony Hi8 Camcorder. Each video showcased Booker wear-testing the model and providing a first look at the bright orange “Chapter 1” colorway to his closest friends and idols such as J. Cole and Chris Gibbs of Union. On the night of September 7th, Booker and Grammy-award-winning artist Drake enacted a carefully crafted official reveal as the Certified Lover Boy took the stage for his summer tour in Phoenix, Arizona sporting the “Chapter 1” colorway.
The model at last made its official debut in the “Mirage” edition on February 16, 2024, followed shortly after by a “Mirage 2.0” drop on the 29th. The follow-up “Haven” and “Hike” editions changed up the construction of Book’s signature, dressing the shoe in long-haired fur and snakeskin, respectively.
After a brief hiatus following the release of the “Rattlesnake,” #1’s model is back on the menu with the Nike Book 1 “Lilac Bloom,” currently slated for a July 18th release date. Additional colorways expected down the line include the Book 1 “Court Purple,” Book 1 “Beyond Pink” and an all-Python pair first spotted at this summer’s NY v. NY tournament. Finally giving fans what they’ve so loudly requested, a group of PE colorways are also on tap for Summer ’25, including the “All-Star ’95” and the “Moss Point.”
