The last Nike sneaker Ben Drury designed is one of the most sought after Air Max 1s on the market today, he designed it in 2006 as part of the “Air U Breathe” collection which included sneakers and apparel from Hitomi Yokoyama and Kevin Lyons. Now two years later, Nike is working with this talented ground again on a new collection of apparel and three colorways of the Air Max 90 Current. Drury’s design, similar to his Air Max 1, features plenty of black on the upper along with a sharp contrasting red swoosh and a white outsole. He also applied graphics on the tongue label and heel tab that reads “oh 8” making references to the Olympics and the 8/8/08 opening ceremony. The lining and insole also feature graphics designed by Drury in a checkered pattern and feature the “oh 8” graphic as well. Ben Drury is a Freelance art designer based in London. As art director for Mowax Recordings he oversaw the design of sleeves, toys including collaborating with Futura 2000 on his book. He still designs sleeves, tee-shirts, books and adverts, for himself and other people. Look for this colorway along the Lyons and Yokoyama colorways along with matching apparel this coming 8/8/08 at top tier Nike retailers including the Rivington Club.
