In 2006, Nike worked with three artists to create a collection know as the “Air U Breathe” collection which included sneakers and apparel, the artists included Kevin Lyons, Ben Drury and Hitomi Yokoyama. Now two years later, Nike is working with the three artist again on a collection of apparel and three colorways of the Air Max 90 Current. The above AM90 Current is designed by UK based Japanese artist Hitomi Yokoyama, using inspiration from the upcoming Olympics and the number “8” and octagon references. Yokoyama designed the color-blocking along with the graphics that adorn the tongue label, heel tab, lining and the insole. He’s a short summary of Hitomi Yokoyama, he first moved to the UK from Japan in 1992 and started working for Gimme 5 in 1995, designing for both Gimme 5 and Goodenough UK. He specializes in allover prints and has collaborated with Undercover, Mad Hectic, Let it Ride, aNYthing and Bathing Ape in the years since. Look for this colorway along the Lyons and Drury colorways along with matching apparel this coming 8/8/08 at top tier Nike retailers including the Rivington Club.
