NBA Feet: Carmelo Anthony – Future Sole Melo M6 by Austin Jermacans

NBA Feet: Carmelo Anthony – Future Sole Melo M6 by Austin Jermacans

The Future Sole Design Program operated by Jordan Brand just completed its third year, with high-schooler Austin Jermacans winning the competition for his rendition of the Melo M6. The grand prize was $5,000 worth of computer equipment to help cultivate the young artist’s career, and on Tuesday, Austin had the opportunity to present a production version of his design to Carmelo Anthony. But both the generous cash prize and chance to meet Melo was easily overshadowed by what occurred Wednesday night.

Carmelo Anthony set aside his usual kicks and wore Austin Jermacans’ Melo M6 during Wednesday night’s contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder. To win the Future Sole competition is one accomplishment; to have your design be produced and worn by the man it was intended for is a lifetime achievement. In addition to being game-worn, the Austin Jermacans Melo M6 will also release to the public at select Jordan retailers in June. Do we have a future Tinker Hatfield on our hands?
