Jordan Brand Spring 2011 Preview 5

Jordan Brand’s foundation lies within its progressive design and fearlessness in the lab, as its Air Jordan legacy designs can only be described as visionary and cutting edge. Year in and year out, loyal fans of the brand eagerly await the return of Retro models and anticipate new designs and hybrids with equal fervor, and in Spring 2011, patience will be rewarded. The Air Jordan III Cement Grey, Air Jordan XIII ‘Playoff’, as well as an Air Jordan VII Retro in a new colorway are slated for release. The Air Jordan VII Bordeaux was at once confirmed for a Spring 2011 release but at this point remains tentative.

A new hybrid of sorts is also on the way; in 2006, Jordan Brand unveiled the Air Jordan Spiz’ike – a hybrid shoe that over-exceeded expectations and still gains steam even four years after its debut. The Spiz’ike was later followed by other multi-shoe mash-ups like the Air Jordan Six Rings and the soon-releasing Air Jordan Rare Air. For the next intra-JB project, a new two-shoe hybrid has been created – the first of which is an Air Jordan VI x XVII hybrid. Much like the Collezione Package releases of 2008, the hybrids will consist of two Air Jordan legacy models adding up to the number 23. Will it be a mere sole-swap, or should we expect a full on infusion?

And finally, this third Spring 2011 expected debut should not be much of a surprise. Tracing back to 2008, Jordan Brand embarked upon a collaboration combining history and revolution when the Air Jordan was partnered up with iconic Nike Air Force 1 – a two-sided project that opened up a new wing for Jordan Brand creativity. For 2011, Jordan Brand follows up on the Air Jordan Force Fusion by featuring hybrids with Air Max shoes, the first of which will be the Jordan Comfort Air Max 12, an Air Jordan XII combined with an Air Max 97 midsole. If you can recall the Jordan Brand Fall 2010 Footwear Showcase, Jordan Brand’s Mark Smith wore an interesting pair of shoes that could only be described as an Air Max 1 x Air Jordan IX hybrid – a shoe that could be on the horizon as well.

Rounding out the rest of the Spring 2011 Collection are new colorways of the Six Rings, Flight 45 High, Jordan CP3.III, Air Jordan Retro Phat 1, and the upcoming Air Jordan 2011. Continue reading for a look into what’s to come from Jordan Brand in Spring 2011 and let us know what you’re looking forward to the most. via NT.
