Ballistic nylon has become an increasingly popular design choice for sneakers in recent years, but one colorway of one legendary shoe stands out as the watershed moment when this tough-as-nails material had its breakthrough. The Air Jordan XIII ‘Flint’ debuted in 1998 rocking French Blue dimpled side panels six years before that shade served as the name for an equally impressive AJ12 retro release. And even though these sections make up the majority of the AJ13’s upper, this particular palette became known for its signature shade of grey along the suede mudguard and midsole sections.
