When Tinker Hatfield moved over to the Running division of Nike, he started things off with the Nike Air Safari, which featured a lightweight Air-cushioned chassis and a funky print on the upper which he claims to have been inspired by a couch he saw at a furniture thrift shop. The Air Safari is among the legends of Tinker’s earlier works, and it will return again in 2012, but in a peculiar form – it has no safari print. Instead, this upcoming foursome of releases that we’ll call the ‘Suede Pack’ opts for the lux approach, using tonal suede uppers, brown leather padded ankle collars, and perforated swoosh outlines. Who knew a shoe called ‘Safari’ would appear so refined? Check out all four colorways of this upcoming release and let us know which of the four you like best, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more Nike Retro 2012 updates.
