The New Balance 999 got a huge boost from its role in the CNCPTS ‘Kennedy’ collabo last spring, and has subsequently enjoyed an increased presence in NB’s classics lineup. This new design finds itself as intimately connected to 2012 as the Kennedy will forever be with ’11, but for more or less exactly the opposite reason, as this pair eschews any standout theme in favor of a color theme that’s worked so well for Nike and Jordan Brand this spring. Grey and white plus just about every vibrant color works beautifully, and this pair opts for bright blue in keeping with the brand’s traditional colors.
