Nike’s rich history in footwear technology is a testament to how the brand grew to its current state on the legs of innovation alone. In 2008, Nike unveiled its first Lunar-cushioned running shoe called the LunarGlide – an award-winner that has become one of the most trusted shoes in the admittedly crowded industry of running footwear. During that span, Nike has fine-tuned the cushion to become lighter and even more stable and spread it across multiple categories within the brand, eventually becoming almost a standard for its athletic footwear.
Today, Nike unveils the sixth model of the LunarGlide series; with a lighter Lunarlon foam and a more stable upper built with lightweight mesh and soft foam that conforms to the foot. The upper pattern is a natural design that came forth when the designers were aiming to reduce as much weight as possible, and the combination of Flywire (also a 2008 debut) and the supportive heel clip provides the unmatched lock-down during movement. The Nike LunarGlide 6 will officially release in stores on July 12th, but is currently available right now for customization on NIKEiD.
