The start to the 2014-15 NBA season is has exceeded expectations in terms of excitement and headlines. In a long list of noteworthy events this year is that Steph Curry is a bonafide elite star, and the Warriors are streaking due to his performance. Curry is really, really good without limitation or stagnation. In fact, the red-hot guard might have gotten even better this off-season, as is evident each time he touches the court. As a result, if MVP votes were calculated today, Curry is without question a frontrunner in that category, and if he continues his pace and the Warriors finish near the top in the stacked Western Conference, the trophy is his to lose. But Curry’s emergence as one of the best players in the NBA is not only great for himself, Steve Kerr and Warriors fans, but for Under Armour, too.

Though they fought admirably, the Maryland-based brand eventually lost the battle for Kevin Durant to Nike. Yet, going toe-to-toe with an industry leading giant like Nike has its advantages; Under Armour is now on everyone’s radar, and for good reason. Simply put, they make great, sustainable products that look as good as they are functional. That much was clear on a grand scale when they recently surpassed adidas in sales, and their recent opening of a new office in the neighborhood of the Nike WHQ proves that UA is poised to bang with the big boys. Much of that was due to their dominance in the football market and other arenas, and clearly basketball superiority is a much more imposing bout. That’s where Curry comes in; if his pace this season continues, he is a strong candidate for league MVP, which would open up so many more opportunities for Under Armour, namely signing prominent athletes. With a MVP candidate in Curry, and a potential All Star in Kemba Walker, Under Armour might shed its underdog faster than expected.

And then there are the shoes, another key component to the overall Curry x Under Armour experience. The Micro G Clutchfit Drive “Curry” has been seen on the Warriors floor general this season, highlighted by Micro G foam in the midsole aiding in extreme cushioning and stability. Additionally, Clutchfit technology offers lockdown support and flexibility for a skin-like feel. What this all means is that Steph has a great signature shoe, and even better, he’s playing well in them, which shouldn’t’ be overlooked if you’re looking for a pair of shoes to ball in. All these factors pose the ever important question – what does it mean for UA of Curry wins MVP or even an NBA title? Let us know what you think after the break and cop a pair of the Micro G Clutchfit Drive at Finishline.
