The Nike Air Trainer 1 nods at one of the greatest 49ers and wide receivers in league history, Jerry Rice, in its latest release. The colorway is a rather obvious tribute to the San Francisco football team, as a premium white perforated leather allows you to focus on a metallic gold patent leather side panel and accents of University Red throughout. Things get interesting on the heel and insole though, as a brick and mortar theme carries a particular Rice family legend with it. The story goes that Jerry developed his catching ability from having his brothers throw him bricks while working with their brick mason father. The brick motif features all-over brick graphics on the insole and a trowel stitched onto the heel.
