How Have These Air Jordan 1 Retro High OGs Not Retro’d Before?

One of the more enlightening moments of ESPN’s 30 for 30 on Sonny Vaccaro called Sole Man was when we found out that MJ really wasn’t a fan of the whole Bred movement. When initially shown the infamous Air Jordan 1 colorway Mike said something along the lines of, “I can’t wear those. Those are the devil’s colors.” What he really wanted was the shoe pictured above. An homage to his alma mater in the University of North Carolina, Nike appeased their rookie signature athlete by releasing this pair later as a lifestyle colorway in 1985. And yet, somehow we’ve never gotten a proper retro. The Air Jordan 1 Mid made a killing utilizing this traditional colorway, but come October 31st, we’ll have finally gotten the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG we deserve. The remastered attention to detail is back as is the classic Nike Air tongue branding while the simplistic combination of Dark Powder Blue and White take us back to Mike’s rookie season. Apparently this will be a limited release, so check out more photos of the Air Jordan 1 “UNC” below and happy hunting come late October.
