Nike Covers Up “Air” For Upcoming Air Max 2016 Premium Release

Nike Air Max 2016 No Visible Air 01

A major calling card for the Air Max series has been the championing of visible air since Tinker Hatfield’s first installment back in 1987. In fact, it’s been the only calling card really as a wide array of uppers have changed throughout while only the size and shape of one of the Swoosh’s signature technologies has grown over the years. Nike is changing things up a little for the latest Nike Air Max 2016 release though, as they’ve covered up the “Air” with a sleek metallic silver midsole. We’ve seen plenty from the latest Air Max featuring the translucent 360 degree Air bubble, but here the engineered mesh and dynamic flywire upper is the focal point thanks to the new-school bottom. So far only two colorways have appeared featuring the alternate tooling. Are you a fan of the look? Check out more official images below and we’ll keep you updated on a stateside arrival in the near future.
