Nike is celebrating 40 years of running dominance with a number of special edition colorways atop some of their most iconic offerings. We’ve already seen the Nike Air Max 1 featuring new ‘1987’ insoles in honor of the model’s 30th Anniversary celebration, and now the Nike Waffle Racer and Nike Air Zoom Talaria are joining in on the celebration with anniversaries of their own.
The Nike Waffle Racer comes equipped with a vibrant dose of Action Green throughout the vintage nylon and suede upper while the outsole that started it all featuring that waffle iron pattern comes in a stark black. The midsole unit gets a pre-aged dose of yellow while the vintage Swoosh keeps things simple to match the black heel and bottom. A ‘1977’ insole matches the Air Max 1’s branding with a rainbow gradient.
The Nike Air Zoom Talaria ’16 goes a different direction with Soar and Vivid Sulfur shades upgrading the retro silhouette with suede overlays and synthetic nubuck throughout. The waffle traction pattern returns here in an homage to the Waffle Racer, but the translucent outsole also shows off the Zoom Air in its full rainbow gradient glory. Accents of yellow mark the small Swoosh stitching near the heel and match the tongue branding.
