Today marks the 30th Anniversary of Michael Jordan’s “Free Throw Line” Dunk, a magical moment in NBA history that to this day carries the wonder and excitement as it did on that day in 1988. To commemorate this moment, Jordan Brand will release a special version of the Air Jordan 3 Retro that features the classic “White/Cement” colorway with some added details that tell the story of MJ’s winning slam. The outsole is now translucent, revealing a thick red stripe to represent the exact spot on the free throw line where MJ took flight. On the tongue is “147”, the total score of his three dunks in the final round. Finally, “3:51” is printed on the inner side of the heel-tab, the digits read on the shot-clock the moment Jordan froze time.
Nike SNKRS will officially release this Air Jordan 3 “Free Throw Line” on February 14th, 2018 at 10 AM EST on the SNKRS App. We can also confirm that other retailers will be taking a bit of a creative approach by releasing the shoes exactly at 3:51 PM on that day. More information on that is sure to follow. See the official images below and stay tuned for the official release next week.
