Nike’s ACG subsidiary continues to be one of the brand’s most influential exports, inspiring a number of Swoosh Brand classics that take on color schemes that have adorned iconic models the likes of the Mowabb in the past. Reprising its ACG-inspired role is the Air Max 95, that released in a three-piece set in 2004, sporting three colorways that drew from the aforementioned Mowabb. While that pack from 14 years ago featured more subtle ties to the ACG mainstay, the inspiration is clear this time around as the 95 takes on a Champagne, Safety Orange, and Sport Royal color scheme with a grey speckled sole unit and a gravel-like pattern right atop its midsole.
Back on August 3rd, we showed you another AM95 iteration that borrowed its color scheme from the Tinker Hatfield-designed Air Safari silhouette – a model largely responsible for the immense success that Nike Sportswear has experienced. Underneath that pair, resting below its semi-translucent sole, was a “Keep Rippin’ Stop Slippin” graphic borrowed from a 2008 Air Max 1 release. While the outsole shown here is not a carbon copy of the Safari-inspired 95, it is clear that it is cut from the same cloth. Both of these Air Max 95 offerings borrow color schemes from prominent Swoosh Brand releases, creating a nostalgic “Keep Rippin’ Stop Slippin” pack that is sure to excite avid followers of Beaverton’s past exploits. Grab a first look at this new ACG-inspired Air Max selection and stay tuned for release info as well as updates regarding this intriguing collection.
