With creations by their talented Tokyo Design Studio, it seems that New Balance may be on course to be its most innovative, as their newest releases have done away with the traditions of old for motifs more modern and marketing more ingenious. While teasing new transformations from up-and-coming labels, the Boston-based footwear house is now completely modifying the tooling of its 997, adding overstated design next to original ideals. Techwear accents come through in the aggressive nature of the “S” variant sole unit with multiple tones adding extra layers of visual interest. Inspired by luxury dress shoes, the uppers of the grey-hued base and black pair come in a mixture of materials with the former taking on a mostly leather make-up and the latter creating appeal through its buttery suede. Overlays toward the rear are adorned in a pebbled leather with an embossed logo acting as the only form of overt branding. Expect both colorways to release at retailers like SNS on February 9th for a price point of $150.
