The Nike Kyrie 5 “Squidward” Releases On August 10th

By combining every ‘90s baby’s favorite cartoon with an ever-popular signature basketball shoe line, the SpongeBob SquarePants x Nike Kyrie Irving collection has garnered a tremendous deal of anticipation and acclaim ahead of its August debut. Now, we have our best look yet at one of the three Nike Kyrie 5s in the five-shoe capsule: the “Squidward Tentacles.” True to his dour nature, SpongeBob’s famed frenemy and Krusty Krab co-worker provides the most straightforward look of any shoe in the pack. The upper is dressed in a soft mint green colorway — similar to the cranky clarinet-playing celaphod himself — while cool bluish-green on the tongue logo, laces, and heel’s cartoon-y text hit add contrast. Water drop detailing on the lateral Swoosh and heel clip provide more texture, while the midsole combines the bronze from Squidward’s shirt with the purple from his hands and feet. The look is then finalized by a Nickelodeon text logo across the throat and Squidward’s goofily grim visage plastered on the insoles. These SpongeBob Nike shoes will release on Nike.com August 10th for $130 USD, so enjoy a full gallery of official images directly below in the meantime.
