Often favoring wild patchwork over utility, Anaheim’s very own Vans outsources to Japanese designer Alexander Lee Chang for the fourth time in the past few years. Showing a penchant for the BOA lacing system twice and outfitting the Old Skool in velcro fasteners, the San Francisco born stalwart is taking things in a slightly different direction while still maintaining a trend of overt function. Using the iconic Era as his silhouette of choice this time around, the pair is largely as simple as past iterations; a colorway of black and white is almost ripped off store shelves though luxe suede toe boxes and weather resistant eVent fabrics make for a slight elevation of form. Though much is left untouched, the same cannot be said for the lace units whose removable of the traditional is enhanced by the innovative magnetic Fidlock system. Strapped from lateral to medial, the newest collaborative rendition is something just narrowly avoiding both extreme techwear and skate by just a hair. Grab a detailed look right here below and find it rolling out to a select bunch of retailers later in January 2020.
