From a surface level, tennis is a very prim and proper sport, and the Nike Court Lite 2 is a simple yet-elegant shoe. Tennis is packed full of tradition, rules, and uniform regulations — both of the spoken and unspoken variety. This Court Lite nods to those conventions at eye level, with a non-threatening monochromatic leather upper and longhair grey suede overlays. However, tennis is also packed full of vibrant personalities who’ve bent and refined those rules in their own fashion, all while pushing the sport forward with poignant panache over the decades. John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, and Serena Williams, to name a few. This Court Lite 2 may not revolutionize the sport like those three great athletes did, but it certainly does do its part to turn classic tennis style on its head, and you need to look no further than the insole to see how. The tranquil and orderly nature presented by the classically-shaped NikeCourt silhouette gives way to a bold red text hit that’s split between the left and right insoles, stating “Your Fault” on the left and “My Point” on the right, a dual-pronged nod to both tennis’s scoring system and some simple-yet-effective trash talk.

Of course, just like any other pair of Nike shoes, performance is first and foremost, with a lightweight Phylon foam midsole providing cushioning and a grippy rubber outsole offering excellent hard court traction. Tonal logos on each midfoot and full-color NikeCourt badges on the heel then equip each foot with just enough branded flair. The only thing more agreeable than the design? The price point, which sits at an almost excessively reasonable $75 USD. They’ll release on Nike SNKRS come August 20th, so enjoy a full gallery of official images below in the meantime.
