7-Eleven Drops Lawsuit Against Nike Over Air Max 95

A convenient end to one of the year's most unique sneaker stories.

7-Eleven Drops Lawsuit Against Nike Over Air Max 95

One of the more unusual sneaker-related legal disputes of 2026 has officially come to an end. 7-Eleven has voluntarily dismissed its trademark infringement lawsuit against Nike over an Air Max 95 colorway that the convenience store chain alleged was designed to imitate its recognizable branding.

According to court documents filed on October 19th, 7-Eleven requested that the case be dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning the company cannot refile the same claims against Nike. The filing also specifies that both parties will be responsible for their own legal fees and costs. The dismissal was approved the following day.

The lawsuit originated in July, when 7-Eleven accused Nike of using its signature orange, green, and red color combination on an upcoming Air Max 95 without authorization. Adding to the controversy was Nike’s planned July 11th release date, which coincided with 7-Eleven Day, the convenience store chain’s annual promotional celebration.

7-Eleven argued that the design and release timing could mislead consumers into believing the sneaker was an official collaboration. The company sought to block sales of the footwear and pursued additional legal remedies.

However, there was an unusual complication: several pairs of the Air Max 95 had already made their way onto the secondary market ahead of the planned release. Pairs were sold through platforms such as StockX, eBay, and GOAT, where listings remained active despite the legal dispute. The potential cancellation of the release only fueled desire, with resale value of the shoes more than doubling the MSRP.

Even if 7-Eleven successfully prevented Nike from releasing the shoes through official retail channels, the sneakers were already circulating outside of Nike’s direct control. Whether that complication played a role in 7-Eleven’s decision to drop the lawsuit is unknown, but it underscores the practical challenges of stopping a sneaker’s distribution once pairs have entered the resale market and will undoubtedly play a role in future legal disputes.

While the dismissal brings the dispute to a close, the filing does not reveal whether Nike and 7-Eleven reached a private settlement or any other agreement. Neither company has publicly disclosed the circumstances behind the decision.

Importantly, the case ended without a court ruling on whether Nike’s Air Max 95 infringed upon 7-Eleven’s trademarks, so it’s possible that Nike may eventually release the sneakers at retail.

Why did 7-Eleven sue Nike over the Air Max 95?

7-Eleven filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Nike in July 2026, alleging that an upcoming Air Max 95 colorway imitated its signature green, orange, and red branding. The sneaker was also originally scheduled to release on July 11th, coinciding with 7-Eleven Day.

What happened to the 7-Eleven lawsuit against Nike?

7-Eleven voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit on October 19th, 2026, with prejudice, meaning it cannot refile the same claims. The filing did not disclose whether the companies reached a private settlement.

Can you still buy the Nike Air Max 95 “7-Eleven”?

Pairs are available through secondary marketplaces such as StockX, eBay, and GOAT despite the legal dispute. Nike has not confirmed a new official retail release date.
