Andrew Rizzo A staple of both athletic and streetwear for over a decade, Nike’s iconic Tech Fleece franchise is coming off a slew of viral moments in recent years, from Central Cee’s polarizing claim that the UK popularized it to the “Nike Tech vs. quarter zip” debate to a certain Venezuelan politician rocking it during his detainment. Now the Beaverton brand is adding fuel to the discourse with some actual new product, rejuvenating the line with garments designed to tackle real athlete needs through material innovation.
At the heart of the lineup is the Nike Tech SF3 for “Storm-FIT,” a fully waterproof rain jacket that still manages to maintain plenty of airflow thanks to fully sealed seams. The SF3 is made with recycled materials and is designed to soften over time, a property not unlike that of a leather jacket but in a true performance offering.
There’s also a major newcomer on the fleece front. For those who prefer an oversized fit, the all-new Nike Tech Boreas, named after the Greek god of the cold north wind, pairs a boxier fit with high-pile fleece and water-repellent panels. Nike Tech Helios, Shori, and Woven, all designed for warmer conditions, continue to hold a place in the category, and of course, the Nike Tech Fleece we all already know still anchors the whole thing.
The refreshed Nike Tech collection releases November 5th via Nike.com and select retailers. The Nike Tech Boreas will be available in Black, Velvet Brown, and New Slate for $195, while the Nike Tech SF3 comes in at $350.
