Opening Ceremony, with many collaborations already under its belt, is slowly beginning to expand its repertoire of brands beyond their almost seasonal run of Vans. Forgoing the sleek skate silhouettes of Anaheim’s finest, the influential retailer is now set to take up partnership with Hoka One One, one of the fastest trending performance footwear brands with noteworthy success thanks in part to their Engineered Garments and Kiko Kostadinov cosign. Now, with their own take, the store-turned-brand is elevating the staple Bondi 5 beyond its roots: instead of its usual aesthetics, the two colorways of white and black are being constructed out of an arrangement of premium materials. Smooth leathers add structure to much of the outward profile with standard mesh bases keeping in line with the breathability and comfort often synonymous with the Japanese label. Suede textures poke through sparingly along the vamp, with natural lock downs at the tongue creating both tonal and visual dimension only on the lighter pair. Debossed branding is par for course right along the heel, finished by the imposing sole unit of various molds, crafting what a high-end answer to the silhouette’s rising status. Grab a detailed look at both right here and expect to see them at openingceremony.com on November 1st for retail of $185.
