Michael Le Within the universe that is COMME des GARÇONS collaborations, the Homme Plus diffusion has often put out some of the very best with Nike, sparking interest in the Dunk High early on with translucent panels, turning the Air Max 180 into the fashion shoe of the decade, and even bringing the ACG Mowabb into the modern era. And with much more in store for the rest of 2020 — further down the road a two-part set of see-through Dunks — the next up, which walked the runway only months ago and raised a brow upon subsequent teases, is the lauded Air Max 95. Much like the aforementioned trail silhouette, the pair features subtle modifications to its overlay construction, extending passed their typical point to further separate the model from its original aesthetic. Elsewhere, the layers swap out their traditional smooth leathers or segmented piping to display a more elegant tulle-esque fabric with edges arriving distressed and foam exposed as per CDG’s intention. Everything from the eye stays, tongues, and the sole unit remain clean relative to their specific colorway — of which there are a total three — slowly creating a gradient among the pack as offerings start in clean triple white, middle in a mix of both tonal extremes, and then finish in a heavily understated triple black.
Update January 14th, 2020: The COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Max 95 will be dropping on January 18th, 2020 for $350 USD at DSM locations including DSM London via a raffle.
