Though many might be quick to question HYKE in regards to their relevance, the Japanese label is unequivocally a well-known name overseas, remembered for a strong series of The North Face staples turned runway showpieces and a vast range of alluring mainline collections. But that’s not all, as the imprint once joined adidas for a collaboration most notable in its buckled constructions and interesting choice of silhouette, though since 2016, there’s been little to no follow-up — that is, however, until now. Nearly three years in hiatus, the two are finally reuniting, reestablishing their connection via a run of performance apparel and an extensive display of Ultra Boosts and Stan Smiths, both marginally removed from their OG design.

Lead with womenswear, the capsule starts strong by way of its garments, using sweatshirts, feminine sportswear basics, and even dresses to shape sportswear into their own narrative. Replete with signature design tweaks and DIY motifs, the pieces match well with the sneakers at hand: a varied range whose cageless Ultra Boosts are the perfect complement. Arriving in threes, the classic runner changes little in terms of its sock-constructed weave, arriving in either black, white, or tan with straps laid atop contrasting in their fully blacked out coloring. Elsewhere, the soles speckle with brighter paint, setting apart the stealthy tooling with a visually prevalent alteration. In departure, the tennis mainstay seems to prefer a more lifestyle approach, as the two forthcoming either leverage versatility or a playful mix of python print. Their materials of choice, though subtle, still differentiates itself via a luxe cow leather.
