ASICS’ Japanese roots have always been present in their designs — be it through Kobe Beef or traditional craftsmanship — but in honor of this year’s Tokyo Olympics, the brand has effectively dialed things up to eleven as they’ve dedicated an expansive set of capsules to celebration. Aside from the sportswear mainstays, Sportstyle pairs such as the GEL-Lyte III as well as its modified XXX alternate have tuned into a “Modern Tokyo” theme,  one that specifically harks to the iconic Shibuya crossing. Rounding off the collection is none other than the GEL-Kinsei whose aggressive shapes remove of nostalgic metallic silver for a Noir-esque black and white. Line work sprawl across much of the upper in reference to the patterns of the street, with panels adjacent coloring to a full black or grey in complement. Side strike branding is pronounced via contrasting overlays, the IGS tech is stamped along the heel, and the tongue than finishes with a special logo lock-up. Grab a detailed look at these here and find them available now at select retailers and ASICS.com.

In other news, a Stray Rats New Balance 827 is on the way.
