Michael Le The adidas Superstar is undoubtedly well-celebrated, a result of its milestone of an anniversary. And after a myriad of redone versatile entries — the Black/White, White/Black, for example — the silhouette has also enlisted creatives worldwide to spin it any way they see fit: Run DMC is soon to stamp their logo atop, Human Made introduced a trio of clean sets, and Prada have adorned the exterior with a silver metallic polish. Creative collective Girls Are Awesome are now set to join the roster, but they’ve opted for a slightly different approach as they highlight the model in three distinct structural variations.
The lead tackles the Superstar at its most iconic, but to make up for the little its done in terms of transformations, the offering highlights neon tones and asymmetry all across. Lateral stripes, which prefer a divergent hit of suede over a matching leather, dye entirely with a clean purple shade to play slight complement to the neon orange that adorns the tongue’s printed logo, the lining, and the heel tabs. Rear pulls, which can be found on the accompanying two as well, then dye in blue with the collaborative imprint’s namesake. Transformed to a platform, the next is far more subtle in its palette as the suede upper completely outfits in a natural shade. Heightened toolings stay their ordinary ecru while the paneling at the back break out in an iridescent fabrication. An infants pair then accompanies with a similar aurora-esque wash and a much more convenient slip-on construction.
