Michael Jordan’s Game-Worn Pair Of Post-Injury Air Jordan 1s Up For Auction

feature image

Throughout the past few years, the sneaker market has evolved from small-time eBay listings to lots in the most notable auction houses the nation over. And thanks to Sotheby’s precedent, it looks like the value of the most collectible Air Jordans are soon to reach the lofty nine figure mark. Certainly one notch up in rarity relative to the aforementioned’s most recent standout, Gotta Have Rock and Roll’s latest high ticket item is none other than Michael Jordan’s post-injury Air Jordan 1. Made to alleviate the athlete’s fractured left foot as he worked his way back to the court, the pair delivers straps for extra support embedded into the leather construction; they were never sold to the public, though two have made their way to collectors in the years since their creation. This specific pair, which holds personal weight to the consignor, was gifted by MJ himself complete with signature and all. Find all the details in the images below, and if you feel up to bid, the auction will start at $100,000 USD on July 22nd and will likely sell for upwards of $500,000 upon its end.
