Converse Unveils The All Star BB Evo As NBA Season Resumes

The Converse All Star Pro BB has officially been on the market for a whole year. Over the last 365 days, the brand’s key athletes – Kelly Oubre Jr., Shai Gilgeious-Alexander, Natasha Cloud – along with hundreds of other professional and amateur players – have given The One Star Brand feedback that’s resulted in the All Star BB Evo, the next chapter in its basketball efforts.

While replete with familiar details from the All Star Pro BB, Converse‘s newest hoops-ready silhouette features notable differences. Its 5/8 collar height delivers increased flexibility without sacrificing stability. Furthermore, zonal padding around the ankle offers updated comfort. These player-informed tweaks extend onto the rest of the All Star BB Evo’s upper, which is constructed from 50/50 split materials. The engineered, lofted mesh across the medial side achieves improved breathability, while closed diamond textile on the lateral side provides structure when cutting on the paint.

“[A]thletes are, more than ever, dedicated to self-expression on and off the court,” said Richard Ward, Design Director of Footwear at Converse. “We…[built] the upper in a way that allowed for more expressive and bold paneling through a distinctive split. The new material choices also allowed us to solve for a performance need, through lockdown and stability.”

Elsewhere on the upper, the Star Chevron logo has been given a layered, blurred arrangement to evoke both movement in speed; “CONVERSE” text has been stamped onto the medial heel; and Nike Flywire has enabled the All Star Pro BB’s successor to achieve optimal forefoot containment. Underfoot, the All Star BB Evo features a drop-in React foam midsole, and omits the Zoom Air unit of the Converse G4. Traction features a diamond lug-pattern for maximum court-feel and responsiveness.

Enjoy images of the All Star BB Evo’s two launch “Rivals Pack” colorways ahead, as you wait for pairs to arrive globally at Converse.com on August 1st.
