Ryota Iwai’s AURALEE, a label that’s quickly made quality and attention to detail its personal signature, has impressed in a number of ways since the start of 2019, delivering refined simplewear along with an inaugural New Balance collaboration that is still one of the most elusive releases in recent memory. And after an equally understated COMP100, the Japanese imprint is preparing to deliver two colorways of the performance-geared Fuel Cell Speedrift for AW20.
Despite being co-designed by athletes, the silhouette sheds much of its original ethos for an aesthetic quite minimal and lifestyle driven. The “Lime Yellow” presents a brighter complement to the accompanying “Charcoal” pair, while revealing better the synthetic architecture that sprawls with “NEW BALANCE” and “NB” text along its profiles. Soles, along both, are hued to match that of their respective palettes, finished in a fashion similar to the TPU heel counter and various overlays. Constructions elsewhere are near identical to that of GRs, yet the tweaks to color create a dark to light duo that effectively pivots the technology-packed runner for different purpose.
Grab a detailed look at the pack here and expect to see a release at AURALEE.jp as well as select NB stores come August 15th.
In other news, the Air Max 96 II is finally returning.
