As 2020 slowly comes to a close, trends from the early to late 90s are resurfacing in full force — gaudy graphics, oversized fits, and the like are slowly working their way into the mainstream. And in terms of footwear, nearly all industry mainstays are bringing back their own silhouettes from the archive — adidas choosing the FYW 98 as one of their many revived champions.
While it released in a number of retro OGs not too long ago, the silhouette is gradually getting more accustomed to current trends. In what is effectively its most versatile appearance yet, the upper is dressing near entirely in a “Utility Black” make-up. The neutral works its way into the construction above as well as below, hitting the tooling for the most part save for on the subtle bit of mint. Suedes of premium texture accent the side in a finish that deceptively appears grey while the thick mesh adjacent contrasts in a gleam present only because of its material. Vintage adidas insignia then finishes along the profile in smaller size, one of the many icons alongside the sole’s and tongue’s.
Grab a detailed look at these here, and if you’re looking to pick up a pair, they’re currently set to release on August 20th according to adidas Japan. A stateside release at adidas.com should arrive around the same time.
In other news, the Wotherspoon SUPEREARTH has been officially revealed.
