Before 2020, the New Balance 992 was an obscure classic that often lived in the shadow of its more popular siblings. But with the help of collaborations from WTAPS to JJJJound, the silhouette has quickly become one of the few inline models to sell out upon its release. With much more on the way, the brand has let reveal not only a neon-accented pair but also this simple white and navy make-up.
Heavily straightforward, the upper only utilizes two shades. The pairing itself, though, likens to the past and many a vintage runner, its general colorway a possible reference to the OG 850 which made its way back to the spotlight not too long ago. White neutrals take up the majority of the construction, outfitting the leathers along the overlays as well as the mesh that lines underneath. Bits of navy blue then works its way along the supports, its dark pigment providing notable contrast atop the toe box, collar, heel counter, and the profile’s “N” logo. Elsewhere, the the tooling is effectively taken from those that precede it as it proffers a two-toned blocking of white and grey.
