Run-DMC x adidas Superstar Releasing On November 14th In Full Family Sizes

Before musical artists were viewed with the same value as athletes by global retailers in the sportswear space, three gentlemen from Hollis, Queens, NY blended hip-hop, fashion, sneakers and culture: Run-DMC. As part of the adidas Superstar‘s 50th Anniversary, the silhouette has emerged in a handful of laceless iterations as subtle nods to the trail-blazing trio. On November 14th, however, the Three Stripes is launching an apparel and footwear capsule unabashedly rooted in the group’s sense of style and attitude.

Crewnecks, satin varsity jackets and fleece hoodies make up some of the commemorative capsule’s apparel options, but the headliners are undoubtedly the shell-toes. Slated to arrive in sizes for the whole family, the two propositions keep things versatile, but fresh in their “Core Black” and “Footwear White” palettes. As the sneakers mark a milestone achievement, they’re built with a closer-to-original shape, and feature high-quality leather uppers. The former pair commemorates the late Jam Master Jay: The DJ’s portrait replaces traditional adidas branding on the tongue. Its co-star proudly boasts Run-DMC’s logo at the same place, while hits of red animate both options’ heel tabs and profile accents. Sole units forgo any nod to the legendary rap trio in favor of tonal arrangements that have lasted the test of time. “Fat” laces, however, are included.
