For 30 years now, Waldo has continued to elude the young and old, his striped shirt, though iconic and bold, at times impossible to find when placed amongst a detail-heavy crowd. Vans, in likely frustration, has made it just a bit easier to find our glasses-wearing friend as the brand is collaborating with the series for an extensive capsule of both footwear and apparel.
The silhouette options and their respective designs are quite diverse, each spotlighting one specific motif. The Sk8-Hi and Old Skool are among the most straightforward — the latter arriving dressed in Waldo’s wardrobe, while the former opts for a yellow/black checkerboard that accents with subtle appearances from the man himself. The Slip-On is most true to the large library of books as the packed beach seems to be pulled right from the pages.
In the case of the adults Authentic, Waldo appears multiple times, leaving very little blank space as he stamps over the toe and profile in various sizes. The Era, which seems to be offered exclusively in kids sizes, contrasts in its mail-inspired execution, one that places multiple portraits atop a white-based construction.
