As NIKE, Inc. headed into 2021, the North American sportswear giant teased some of its plans. Missing among announcements for a springtime Air Jordan lineup, had been teasers regrading Nike Air Max Day. A recently-surfaced Air Max 95, however, has ostensibly changed that.
The mixed-materials upper on the forthcoming pair maintains its standard construction, but indulges in a multi-color arrangement comprised of Asian magazine clippings. Japanese katakana symbols are haphazardly scattered throughout the sneaker’s top-half, with nods to March 26th (Air Max Day) appearing on the medial profiles. Hits of neon green and high-vis orange animate branding on the tongue, sock-liner and lateral heel, as well as Air Max cushioning underfoot. Yet, the tones are arguably overshadowed not only by the aforementioned graphics, but also the rubber strap attachment that accompanies the 26-year-old design; the accessory is branded with “NIKE SPORTSWEAR” text and runs from forefoot to rear.
Enjoy a first-look at one of the potential pairs for Air Max Day 2021 ahead, as you wait for official Nike SNKRS release details.
