As announced late last year, Spring 2021 is going to be big for Jordan Brand. Alongside the extremely anticipated University Blue Jordan 1 and Taupe Haze Jordan 4, the brand will be offering up a number of universal color schemes like the Air Jordan 5 “Anthracite.” And following its official announcement late last year, the latter has finally appeared in-hand ahead of its February release.
Though primarily hued in its neutral, titular color, the pair is still visually interesting by way of its texture. Mesh of a horizontally woven variety lines much of the shoe’s base, made far darker, almost black compared to the overlays adjacent. These, which hit the toe cap, collar, and even the counter, set themselves apart in a light grey and a premium suede, each panel further accented with reflective, contrast stitch that directly matches the “netting” used along the instep and profile.
Icy blue soles, subtle paint splatter, and blacked out “23s” then round off the construction, readying the shoe for its upcoming February 6th launch at Nike SNKRS.
The Air Jordan 5 “Anthracite” is no longer listed as launching stateside via Nike SNKRS on February 6th. Select retailers currently have the pair as releasing on February 12th. The sneaker’s European release hasn’t been delayed.
