Before 2021 began, sneaker enthusiasts everywhere were treated to rumors that the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG would launch in yet another “Shattered Backboard”-reminiscent colorway throughout the new year. And while Peter Moore’s 36-year-old design may still revisit the highly-lauded theme, its next “White/Black”Electro Orange” color palette seems void of any backstory.
A mockup from early December 2020 depicted the forthcoming release in a style that’s now been confirmed via unofficial images of an in-hand pair. Smooth leather paneling throughout the model’s upper boasts a “yin-and-yang” color-blocking that borrows from the original Jordan 1 “Black Toe”. As with previously-launched takes of the retro’s mid-top iteration, much of overlays beyond the quarter-panel opt into a tonal arrangement that allows for profile swooshes and other branding to revel in the spotlight. Yet, collar underlays overshadow every other component across this sneaker’s top-half as they indulge in the shimmering, titular “Electro Orange” hue. Swooshes on the tongue’s label also don the citrus tone, as does the outsole underfoot. Everything in-between keeps things simple in “White” or “Black”.
Enjoy a first-look at the high-top Jordans here below, and expect official images to emerge as the shoe’s rumored July release date inches closer.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Nike Air Force 1 is celebrating its 39th anniversary in style.
