With the commencement of the games, a model to be looking out for is the new New Balance KAWHI “Neo Flame”—a vibrant pink and red arrangement that seems to be an ode to love.
After showcasing his sweet tooth for Jolly Ranchers and honoring his famous playoff buzzer beater via his signature New Balance sneaker, Kawhi Leonard continues to add innovative, personal touches to new offerings. The pair color-blocks bold reds and pinks throughout its uppers, opting for different shades to color the mesh base and any mixed-material overlays. As seen on previous iterations, the braided details on the middle panel are split amongst three different colors by opting for hues already applied elsewhere. The Fun Guy further personalizes the pair with a label down the tongue with text that alludes to the All-Star Game. Furthermore, at the top of the tongue is a label that reads “The Romantic Choice” with “KAWHI” printed underneath in the same serif font, spoofing New Balance’s “The Intelligent Choice” slogan. A small red heart sits next to the text to complete a bold design that revives the Valentine’s Day spirit a month later.
While an official release date for the Clippers player’s creation has not yet been announced, it is expected to drop later in March.
