Jovani Hernandez adidas‘ partnership with Parley for the Oceans has been turning trash into footwear and apparel for the last six years. Over that time, the German sportswear manufacturer has also created in-house systems to expand sustainability efforts onto other propositions under its tutelage, with the latest development arriving as the “Stan Smith, Forever” initiative.
With the aim to end plastic waste, the newly-announced lineup includes adidas Originals’ timeless model not only constructed with recycled uppers and outsoles, but also donning several earth-inspired graphics. As with the first Prada Luna Rossa 21, forthcoming pairs under the “Stan Smith, Forever” banner boast PRIMEGREEN construction throughout their top-half, but not all of them deliver playful arrangements. To appease enthusiasts whom prefer the sneaker’s classic look, a handful of options maintain their signature “Cloud White/Collegiate Green” colorway and original detailing. Together, this and future initiatives are part of adidas’ goal to use 100% recycled polyester in its products by 2024.
