Adding to Nike Sportswear’s vast Plant-Based collection is the Air Max 97, seen her for the first time in a navy and cork build similar to a recently previewed Air Max 95. Front and center is the cork plant, seen via the fine embroidery and applique on the tongue, while actual cork material is used on one of the upper tracks of the Air Max 97’s signature silhouette. The reminder of the upper features a dyed canvas materials, with contrast stitching in tan to add to that outdoors-y aesthetic. The outsoles also feature sandy grains embedded into the rubber to further extend the organic approach.
By now, you’ve seen countless iterations from Nike’s Plant-Based efforts, but this is the first Air Max 97. There are in fact two different colorways to expect on April 29th, which is the release date for the majority of the pack.
Official images lay just ahead; browse through them and stay tuned for the official drop – or notice of a potential release date postponement.
Updated April 28th, 2021: The release date for all the “Plant Based” collection has been postponed for a later date.
