Despite the fresh mix of pastels that the warming season invites new footwear releases to embrace, blizzardy white-out colorways are a minimalist’s dream that is here to stay. The Nike Air Max Viva ditches its usual trail-ready, multi-colored palettes to embrace a white and grey arrangement reminiscent of the arctic tundras instead.
The leathers and meshes that construct the model’s uppers and tongue are void of any other color besides white. However, perforations and intricate stitches help to elevate the uppers to keep them from being drab. The double-cord lacing system, which has been a site for hints of colors among past releases, is now fully clad in white, with one of the elastics flaunting light grey speckles. White and grey patterns appear again on the camo-like overlay on the heel and under the exaggerated Air Max-cushioned midsole. To finish the design, Volt is unexpectedly added to the mix—but its cameo is quite subtle since the shade is applied to the insoles and the Air logo on the outsole.
