Checkered Stripe Gives The Nike Air Max 95 A Race-Inspired Look

Checkered Stripe Gives The Nike Air Max 95 A Race-Inspired Look

At one point, Nike’s leather-made and relatively bulky running shoes (in comparison to the super-reductive mega-lightweight offerings of modern day) were meant for performance running. Can you imagine belting out a 5K in a pair of Air Max 95s? It’s not impossible, but they don’t really seem ideal considering the lack of ventilation and added weight. While the 95 can be beat on the race-track, nothing can compete with its pole position in the world of lifestyle footwear, which is why this latest Air Max 95 is reminder that the mid-90s runner will never really beat.

This newest colorway opts for simple color approach, utilizing a black and deep royal blue hue with hits of grey on the upper stripe and matching reflective panels on the heel and upper. Adding to that speedy aesthetic is a checkered flag pattern that takes over the second lower track, adding some visual horsepower to an already aggressive colorway. Like with most GR releases, you can expect these on Nike.com and Nike retailers soon, and we’ll certainly update you with a green light when it’s time.
