Jovani Hernandez In 2019, Japanese fashion imprints sacai and UNDERCOVER reimagined three vintage Nike Running silhouettes in the Nike Waffle Racer, Nike LDV and Nike Daybreak. Before the current year ends, both labels will collaborate on at least three Nike LDWaffle colorways, with the “Black/Sail/Dark Grey/Bright Citron” option pictured here.
At a glance, the forthcoming pair appears completely dominated by Chitose Abe’s now-recognizable layered style, but closer inspection reveals its collaborative nature. Superimposed swathes of suede and leather run from forefoot to heel, with the latter area clearly calling out Jun Takahashi’s hand. Protruding “wings” are forgone on the LDWaffle‘s rear, but bulging heel clips boast Nike, sacai and UNDERCOVER’s names. Branding throughout the rest of the shoe seemingly only highlights the Swoosh and Abe’s label, although official images may disclose otherwise. Lastly, waffle-pattern outsoles indulge in the pair’s titular yellow tone, while yet-to-surface-options will boast “University Red,” “Team Royal” and other tones.
Official Nike SNKRS release details aren’t known yet, but this three-way collaboration is set to launch right before 2021 ends. In the meantime, enjoy images of the “Bright Citron”-accented pair here below.
