Although less-heralded than some of its visible Air-cushioned counterparts, the Nike Air Max BW (formerly the Air Classic BW) is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary in style. Shortly after appearing in its original “Persian Violet”-accented colorway, the “Big Window” proposition has emerged with more of the purplish flair, but this time atop a predominantly “Black” canvas.
At a glance, the forthcoming pair simply indulges in a dark hue where it traditionally boasts a “White” tone, but closer inspection reveals otherwise. A synthetic leather strip still divides the upper into two halves, while the titular “Persian Violet” hue animates the profile swooshes, tongue, collar, “AIR MAX” branding on the heel and detailing on the sole unit. Mesh throughout the model’s standard build is abandoned in favor of an all-leather build, following the Air Max 1‘s “LV8” approach. Underfoot, sole units forgo any leather construction, but also boast “Black” where they’d normally feature “White”; stability tooling in the center of the outsole rounds out the pair with the silhouette’s most iconic color.

Elsewhere under the Swoosh umbrella, a Dunk Low “South Korea” is in the works.
