It’s no secret the New Balance 550 has exploded in popularity since being unearthed from the archives by Teddy Santis towards the end of 2020. And while the silhouette has found resounding success via a handful of simple, two-tone ensembles inspired by basketball footwear of the 1980s, its latest proposition takes a much more playful, multi-color approach.
Akin to the majority of previously-seen iterations, the forthcoming pair indulges in a white mix of solid and perforated leather across much of its body. Black takes over the majority of the heel, but hits of yellow, red and green deliver contrast throughout the New Balance‘s entire upper. Profile “N” logos indulge in vibrant red, while collar underlays and lining deviate in a rich green. Yellow appears across “550” and “NB” branding, as well as on made-for-basketball-tread underfoot. Together, each hue makes the least heritage-inspired arrangement to land on the vintage hoops-ready sneaker, but further adds to the model’s second life.
