Michael Le At the tail end of their June 2021 preview, size? revealed a very special New Balance 57/40, an exclusive whose design process ended only after an exhaustive five rounds.
Though clad in grey as a nod to the Boston-based footwear brand themselves, the pair stands tall on its own thanks to a unique color blocking and material assortment. Hairy suedes quickly take the spotlight, their texture immediately noticeable thanks to the deep, slate coloring of the eye stay, mudguard, and heel tab. Similar furnishings arrive adjacent — but while they match in feel, they contrast in their use of a lighter, cream-based shades. Elsewhere, the mesh underneath adds further dimension as it peers out in a more traditional NB neutral.
