As a follow-up to their first joint-endeavor from July 2020, which acquired $931,875 USD across nine lots, Stadium Goods and Christie’s have put together “Original Air Takes Flight: The Evolution and Influence of Air Jordan Sneakers,” the largest sneaker auction held by the British auction house.
Comprised of 90 lots, “Original Air Part II” features a mix of rare Air Jordan samples and game-worn pairs; a Player-Exclusive Undefeated x Nike Kobe 1 Protro; and special collaborations with non-athletes the likes of Drake and Eminem. Past and current Team Jordan family members – including Derek Jeter, Russell Westbrook and Ray Allen – also have a selection of items within the monumental sale. Yet, they’re arguably overshadowed by the footwear made specifically for and donned by Michael Jordan himself. An original salesperson sample of the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” (“Black/Red”) joins a complete set of the first 14 Jordans, experimental, pre-production builds of the Air Jordan 4 and much, much more.
Enjoy a look at a few of the options curated by Stadium Goods and Christie’s ahead. Online viewing of the full selection is available now via Christies.com; “Original Air Takes Flight” will be exhibited at Christie’s New York from June 4th to June 9th, with an additional viewing of select highlights occurring from June 9th to June 30th. Lastly, bidding will be open from June 22nd to June 30th.
