Jovani Hernandez Throughout its 36-year history, the Air Jordan 1 has maintained generally strict guidelines, specifically when compared to its shorter counterparts. Over the last five years, however, Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker has flexed its experimental muscles, donning new materials and cushioning, all while expanding its color palette from ones connected to #23’s playing career and personal life.
As part of the Jordan Brand Fall 2021 collection, Peter Moore’s iconic design has indulged in the calming colors of sage for a women’s-exclusive retro. And while the hits of pink, orange, blue and greyscale that appear throughout the upper are experimental in their own right, they’re arguably overshadowed by the collar. The ankle area of the upcoming Jordan 1 features what ostensibly looks like guidelines for cutting. Like the sneaker’s forthcoming “Switch” iteration, the shoe can effectively be customized into an Air Jordan 1 Low, but can’t revert to a high-top for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, the women’s pair marks a new milestone for MJ’s first sneaker.
A Nike SNKRS release date hasn’t been officially confirmed, but the retro is anticipated to launch on September 11th. In any case, enjoy images of the pair here below.
