Kiko Kostadinov Briefly Reprises His Collaboration With ASICS; Debuts GEL-QUANTUM LEVITRACK

Though thought to be done with ASICS on a co-branded level near a year ago, Kiko Kostadinov is soon to reprise his official collaboration with the brand in honor of the Tokyo Olympics. “Two years in the making,” as stated by the Bulgarian designer himself, the project — set forth atop the brand new GEL-QUANTUM LEVITRACK — celebrates the spirit of sport as well as the unity, teamwork, and community that follows alongside.

Teased extensively in that two years time, the GEL-QUANTUM LEVITRACK has seen brief mention in interviews, cameos in the recent Spring/Summer ’22 showing, and frequent posting on social media. And just this morning, Kostadinov’s eponymous label sent out official notice, unveiling the shoe through just part of a much larger photo campaign shot by Frank Lebon. The model itself, which is due to arrive in three colorways, proffers an upper not too unlike the GEL-Kiril 2 from Autumn/Winter ’21. Both in its silhouette and logo placement, the upper feels quite familiar; however, the heel clip is far more chiseled, lacking the rubberized clip, and the tongue opts for a standard lace unit. Below, the tooling is also unique as its packed with GEL similar to the mainline Quantum series.
