Ahead of the New Balance 990 series’ 40th anniversary, the North American sportswear company has released special editions of a number silhouettes in that line. Among them, the New Balance 990v2, which has recently launched in two classic options: “Black/White” and “Navy/White.”
While not as iconic as the model’s inaugural “Grey/White” arrangement, both newly-surfaced colorways boast the same high quality and comfort synonymous with the second installment in the 990 lineup. Lightweight and breathable mesh pair with premium pig suede paneling throughout the upper to deliver a durable and soft top-half. “N” logos and supporting accents across the forefoot, mid-foot and heel deviate from their dark surroundings, opting instead for shades of grey. Whereas the “Black” option sits atop a predominantly “White” sole unit, its counterpart is complemented by a partially-yellowed ABZORB unit that invokes a vintage aesthetic that’s currently in vogue, and of which New Balance has been a source of inspiration for many.
